Dong-A University Consumer Cooperative is owned by the students, faculty and staff who use it. We run the dining halls, convenience stores and cafés on the Seunghak, Bumin and Gudeok campuses, and return what we earn to our members.
About Co-op
What is a university co-op?
A cooperative is an autonomous association of people who join together voluntarily to meet their shared economic, social and cultural needs through an enterprise they own jointly and run democratically.
University consumer cooperatives bring that model onto campus. Faculty, staff and students all take part as members, and the co-op runs dining halls, convenience stores and cafés that support study and research. Thirty-four universities across Korea operate one today.
Dong-A University Consumer Cooperative was founded in 2014 by members of the university community. It operates under the Consumer Cooperatives Act, with the aim of improving member welfare, supporting the academic environment, and contributing to the surrounding community.
Every member is an investor, an operator and a user at the same time.
One member, one vote
Every member has an equal say in how the co-op is run, regardless of how much they have invested.
Not run for profit
Surplus goes back to members and into campus services rather than to outside shareholders.
Open to everyone on campus
Students, graduate students, faculty and staff are all eligible to join.
Membership
Becoming a member
Anyone in the university community can join by paying share capital and completing a short registration. Membership is not required to shop with us, but members earn points and get priority in co-op activities.

Share capital is an investment, not a fee. It is refunded in full when you withdraw from the co-op.
How to join
Open the sign-up link
Use the sign-up link on the Korean membership page, or scan the QR code posted around campus.
Register in the Itsme app
Download Itsme, the members' app, and start membership registration there.
Enter your details and pay your share
Once your details are approved, pay your share capital inside the app. Benefits start as soon as the payment clears.
What members get
Priority for Co-op Part-time Jobs
Members receive priority when the cooperative recruits part-time staff.
Priority Points for Co-op Events
Members receive additional consideration when applying for events run by the cooperative.
Priority for Co-op Activities
Members receive priority when applying to participate in other cooperative activities.
Good to know
- Your benefits start the moment your share payment clears in the Itsme app.
- Your Itsme membership barcode is your proof of membership at the till.
- If you registered but have not paid your share capital yet, your application stays pending rather than being deleted.
- If your share capital was transferred under a name other than your own, contact the co-op office so we can match it to your account.
- You can apply to withdraw at any time. Note that under Article 20(3) of the Consumer Cooperatives Act, if your membership is suspended in our records and you neither withdraw nor renew it within two years, your share capital may be forfeited to the co-op.

Our stores are spread across the three Dong-A University campuses — Seunghak, Bumin and Gudeok — and are open to everyone, members and non-members alike.
